This essay begins with the question of how to discuss the contemporary values in the Book of Change from the context of recent cultural phenomena. As an illustrative case, it examines a philosophical concept that leads the future understanding of humanity through the change-penetrating Yidao in the Book of Change. Additionally, it analyzes the socio-cultural function and significance of cultural contents, a keyword in contemporary cultural phenomena, through the ecological perspective. The theoretical foundation for this discussion includes the collaborative values of ecologism, which advocates for bio-communities, and the practical awareness of Philosophy of life, which pursues a harmonious society.
Firstly, the combination of fourth industrial revolution technologies with cultural content has created an environment where not only nations and companies but also individuals can produce cultural content. The boundaries between the producers, distributors, and consumers of cultural content have become blurred. In the midst of the proliferation of cultural content today, it is a critical moment to contemplate the societal function and value of addressing questions such as "What meaningful impact does cultural content have on humans?" and "In what direction should cultural content move on?" At this point in time, it is important to consider how cultural content can go beyond mere entertainment, furthermore positively influence the human spirit and consciousness, and ultimately enhance the overall quality of life. The true value of cultural content can be sustained when it serves the function of elevating the human experience in this way.
Secondly, the Book of Change is a historical and philosophical text that describes the aspects of culture, society, and human from ancient times through Chinese history. Therefore, it serves as a guarantee of universality when it comes to human life and the human spirit. As a result, it possesses a uniqueness that enables it to provide profound insights and lessons relevant even in the present era, making it an excellent cultural archetype. Hence, the Book of Change has the potential to transform into a high-quality cultural content that can purify and heal the psyche and consciousness of contemporary individuals. It holds the cultural value in its ability to guide human thought and judgment regarding the values that human life and spirit should aspire to. It illustrates the process leading to the state of holistic self-realization, namely, the highest achievable state of human consciousness in relation to deliberations on the values that human beings should embrace.
Thirdly, The 21st century is an era in which physical time and space are being deconstructed. The perception that only humans are the unique actors in the world is changing, and post-humanism actively represents this shift. The change-penetrating view of the Book of Change symbolically reflects these significant global trends and it is closely related to human awareness of the natural life community and its inner consciousness. Symbolically, Post-human represents the blurring of boundaries between the inner world and the real world of humans, where human awareness about the world extends to virtual time and space in contemporary society. The question is, from what perspective will we examine the world and humanity in a society where the boundaries between the inner world and the reality of humans are breaking down? According to the principle of change-penetrating Yidao, there is no inherent state of complete harmony and stability in the interacting relationships of the elements that make up the world. The community of life always and only seeks dynamic balance. Post-human, with an ecological perspective, and the ideal human in the Book of Change, with the psychological consciousness of self-improvement without everlasting(自强不息), share a common concern about the existence of the nature and the world. They both contemplate issues related to the holistic understanding of humans and the environment and its sustainability.
In conclusion, The world of the Book of Change reflects an awareness of ecologism that projects a way of life culturally based on the relationships between humans and all ecological environments. Ecologism expands the value of life from the perspective of the community of life that reflects the value of life in biological time and space to the perspective of the cultural community, where humans can shape their cultural environment while transcending time and space, This perspective is rooted in the premise of philosophy of culture. The philosophy of culture perceives the relationships between culture and nature, culture and humans, culture and civilization, and the components of cultural environments as part of a vast organic entity, much like how species in the natural ecosystem adopt strategies of interdependence for coexistence. It recognizes these relationships as part of a cultural ecosystem through human rational judgment and reflection. Therefore, as an ideal way to constitute the world, the philosophy of culture offers values and horizons for the paradigm of socio-cultural communities.
