In 2005, the vocational research area was adopted as an optional area in KSAT to invigorate the commercial education. The purpose of this study is to understand how this introduction affected on student's career assessments, the normalization and improvement of commercial education. To identify the purpose of this research, the survey was conducted on the in-residence senior grade students in commercial high school who are preparing for higher education. However, the students who will not choose vocational research area on KSAT were excluded from the survey to meet the necessary requirements for research.
As the results of this study,
The first, the reason for this introduction were normalization and improvement of commercial education. The result of survey reveals that improvement commercial education didn't influenced by the introduction. Most of students were interested on inquiring the occupational certification.
The second, an another reason for this introduction was to improve their technical confidence in certain area. The result of survey reveals that improvement of their expertise didn't affected by the introduction of the vocational research area.
The third, the introduction enabled easier access to KSAT and it also increased the number of candidates who wish to pursuit higher education.
The last, the most important factors were students' interest in that subject and teaching methods.
In conclusion, the adoption of vocational research area as an optional subject in KSAT increased number of candidates. However, the main purpose which was to normalize the commercial education was not achieved as expected.
