This study examined the relationships among Perceived Social Supports, Optimism, and Hassles. Subjects in this study consisted of 1,521 freshmen who are attending one university in Checheon. They were asked to rate the questionnaires concerning Perceived Social Supports, Optimism, and Hassles. The results were as follows: (1) There were negatively significant correlations between Perceived Social Supports and Hassles, and positively significant correlations between Perceived Social Supports and Optimism. Also, there were negatively significant correlations between Optimism and Hassles. (2) Perceived Social Supports and Optimism decreased the level of Hassles. The level of Hassles was predicted, in order of importance, by the Perceived Social Supports and Optimism. (3) Perceived Social Supports increased the level of Optimism. (4) Female students perceived higher than male students in the Social Supports from mother and friends. (5) The level of Optimism was higher in the female group than male group. (6) The level of Hassles was higher in the male group than female group. The implications and limitations of these findings were discussed and directions for future studies were also proposed.
