This study proposed a PID tuning method using Genetic Algorithm (GA) based on Tracking Persistence for optical tracking of unknown space objects. Tracking Persistence, defined as the duration the target remains within 10 arcseconds of the image center, reflects stability crucial for identification imagery. Simulations demonstrated that the proposed method achieved longer continuous tracking than RMS-based approaches, while maintaining comparable RMS error, even under worst-case conditions.
