Minocycline is a semisynthetic tetracycline derivative that is a widely prescribed systemic antibiotic for acne. But it is associated with a variety of adverse cutaneous reactions including fixed drug eruption, photosensitivity, hyperpigmentation, contact dermatitis, and generalized dermatitis of a morbilliform, urticarial, or exfoliative type. We herein report a case of acute urticaria in a 26-year-old woman who had taken minocycline for the treatment of acne.
