    The purpose of this study is to investigate the 'Gosirae' (scatter food as an offering to hungry devils) which is the folk belief of Korea. The method of this study is to analyze the 'Gosirae' tale.
    The 'Gosirae' is made up of the following processes. The Gossi (Go's family. Go is a kind of surname in Korea) is established as the object of receiving food which is not eaten by other people. And the person recite 'Gosirae' as he scattering food.
    The result of this study is as follows. First, the 'Gosirae' tale is the history record about cause and consequence of 'Gosirae'. Second, the people is become know the propriety of 'Gosirae' by the 'Gosirae' tale, because the tale introduce the 'Gosirae' effect that bring about plentiful harvest and bad-luck prevention. Third, Gosirae tale make Gosirae as a kind of god. So scattering food process is become the forms of sacrifice.
    In conclusion, Gosirae is the traditional behavior that praise the personal hope by the meas of sacrifice and incantation processes.
