The purpose of this study is to suggest improvements on the plans of user-oriented neighborhood park and green spaces in order to create better residential environment, focusing on housing development project districts. Neighborhood park and green spaces in the housing development project districts are important indexes that determine satisfaction of housing and quality of environment in the housing complex. This study examines what size and shape would be best for park and green spaces in the housing development project districts.
Neighborhood park and green spaces ratio in the housing development project districts were obtained to give a future reference when making a plan on housing development project. They were organized by regional variance, trend by years, and project size, focused on housing development project districts that have been executed. This study suggests a mandatory policy that secures the minimum neighborhood park and green spaces ratio by development project sizes.
In addition, this study examines users' behaviors on how to use neighborhood parks, their satisfaction levels, and priorities when making a neighborhood park. It will give a feedback for the plans and designs of neighborhood parks either at the future land development projects or at the similar city development projects, creating better user-oriented housing environment.
It will help not to create such neighborhood parks that have not used because of passive development, though there are various demands of use by the citizens due to compulsory plans and designs that are limited to preservation of the nature. This study suggests a networked land use plan that links each neighborhood park organically, by introducing theme neighborhood parks that can accommodate different activities of the users.
Finally, since neighborhood parks in the housing development project districts are public facilities, they should be planned and designed in a way to realize the city values and environmental preservation.
