This study is a contrastive analysis on the Korean expressions corresponding to the Chinese adverb ‘還(hai)’, which has various meanings. It is based on the Chinese-Korean parallel corpus, and a total of 547 examples of ‘還’ are found. In the first part of this study, the previous research related to the meanings of ‘還’ and the explanations from Chinese dictionaries and Chinese-Korean dictionaries was reviewed and the Chinese examples were classified by the meaning. Then, the corresponding Korean expressions of ‘還’ were extracted to be analyzed. The result shows that various kinds of corresponding expressions were found and that ‘還’ corresponds to not only adverbs, but also postpositions, endings, formulaic expressions in Korean. This study is meaningful since it uncovered the corresponding aspect of ‘還’ between Chinese and Korean and the result of this study can be useful in Korean vocabulary education for Chinese learners as well as Chinese vocabulary education for Korean learners.
