환경규제의 외국인직접투자에 대한 영향 분석 = The Effect of the Environmental Regulation on the Foreign Direct Investment in Korea

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper explores the effect of the environmental regulation as one of determinants of foreign direct investment using the data of 34 OECD countries from 1990 to 2010. From the empirical estimations with a pooled OLS, random effects, and Tobit model, this study found that the stringent environmental regulation has the negative effect on inflows of foreign direct investment in Korea. Foreign direct investment inflows to Korea turn out to decrease as Korean lending rate and tax burden ratio increases. The economic size of 34 OECD source country has the positive effect on foreign direct investment inflows to Korea, but economic size of Korea does not appear to be statistically significant. Other control variables, Korean wage level, Korean exchange rate, and Korean exports, also do not show statistically significant impacts on inflows of foreign direct investment in Korea.
