한류와 한국어문학 ; 한류의 학문적 전환과 창조적 모색 : 한국 소설의 한류 가능성 모색 -신경숙의 <엄마를 부탁해>를 중심으로- = Search for a possibility of Korean Wave in Korean novels -focused on the novel Please Look After Mom written by Kyung-sook Shin-

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In this thesis the possibility of Korean Wave in the novel Please Look After Mom written by Kyung-sook Shin has been searched for. The ways of intrinsic and external criticism against the text are adapted for the purpose of this thesis. Following is the result of the research. The novel, Please Look After Mom written by Kyung-sook Shin presents the conventional dicourse, ``motherhood,`` dealing with the global matter, ``family dissolution``, through which it stresses the need to restore the family relationship through ``Otherness``. Korean national specialty, the basis of Korean Wave, was brought to life as it has universal traits. The author, Kyung-sook Shin tried to use ``various points of view`` and her unique writing style, ``saying hello``, and let the readers speculate on their own mothers in a kind of stance, ``Otherness``, as if they were strangers to their mothers. These peculiarities made Korean Wave prevail not only in the country but also overseas. As a result of searching for the outer conditions of the possibility of Korean Wave, necessity of ``user-oriented translation`` and the stable status of writers are essential to develop literature of Korean Wave. Besides, it is anticipated that only when the close association of writer`s original imagination with the various mass media is secured, literature of Korean Wave is sure to work well in the foreign market. Now Korean Wave has become one of the important global trends but as it intends to go with global citizens, literature of Korean Wave should have solutions to the matters which happen in the mind of global citizens. So, Korean novels need deeper speculation as they have provided a lot of resources for Korean Wave.
