This study was done to know the effect of the polysaccharide as BRM(Biological Response Modifiers) in mice.
The author obtained the following results:
1. The amount of glycyrrhizin in GAMBIMAM was about 0.06 w/w %.
2. There was depressive effect of GAMBIMAM on the contact hypersensitivity (CHS) reactions against 2,4-dinitro-1-fluoro-benzene(DNFB)
Especially, GAMBIMAM inhibited the elicitation but not the induction of contact sensitivity.
3. GAMBIMAM suppressed the delayed type hypersensitivity(DTH) reactions against sheep red blood cells (SRBC)
4. There was no effects of the GAMBIMAM on the humoral immune responses against SRBC.
5. GAMBIMAM suppressed markedly the depression of CHS reaction induced by the ultraviolet radiation
6. There was no effects of GAMBIMAM on the depression of DTH reaction induced by the ultraviolet radiation
7. GAMBIMAM induced dose-dependent suppression of CHS reaction.
