      Many automotive companies have adopted rear wheel driveline system into their premium grade luxury sedans in order to achieve better driving dynamics and comfortable ride & handling. However, in terms of NVH performance, rear wheel driveline system usually raises more driveline related NVH issues than front wheel driveline system. NVH engineers have been trying their best efforts to solve the driveline NVH problems. In this paper, the study on the contribution of each component and system to various driveline NVH issues occurred in the premium luxury sedan with rear wheel driveline system was carried out. The source and the transmission route of the high speed booming and vibration caused by the imbalance of the driveline were investigated. Also, the analytical and experimental studies were carried out in order to find out the main factors that cause unusual vibration during acceleration from a stop. As a result, the countermeasures and solutions to improve the driveline NVH issues are derived. The derived optimal design solutions were verified their effectiveness by using a mass production vehicle and contributed to achieve the NVH luxuriousness of the luxury sedan with rear wheel driveline.

However, in terms of NVH performance, rear wheel driveline system usually raises more driveline related NVH issues than front wheel driveline system.
