다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract) kakao i 다국어 번역

This paper examines the productivity of the phonological process of sequential voicing, or rendaku, in Japanese. Sequential voicing is a phonological process that voices the voiceless consonant of a second morpheme when it is reduplicated or compounded. As is often pointed out, the occurrence of sequential voicing is unpredictable. The mimetic lexicon in Japanese is differentiated from the other strata of the lexicon in terms of the application of sequential voicing. If sequential voicing were applied, ungrammatical forms would be derived. That is to say, in onomatopoeia the mixing of unvoiced and voiced bases is not allowed in one word. We can find, however, a few exceptions to this principle: alternation forms teki-paki and dogi-magi, and ko-prefixation in ko-zaQpari, ko-ziQkari, ko-diNmari. Thus, it seems reasonable to distinguish lexical strata in Japanese, as McCawley(1968) did in the four-stratum system of Yamato, Onomatopoeia, Sino and Western.
