어머니 마음상태용어와 유아 마음상태용어와의 관계 = The Relationship between Mothers’ Mental State Terms and Children’s

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to find a relationship between mothers’ and children’s mental state terms. It investigated what types and tokens of the mental state terms and methods were used by 36 to 70 month old children and their mothers while they read a wordless picturebook together.
The data were collected from 76 children and their mothers.
The results of this research were obtained as follows. First, mothers’ mental state terms and children’s were respectively 34.06% and 17.44% out of the total utterances. Considering the types of the sub-categories of the mental state terms, the mothers and the children used emotion and thinking and believing most variously, respectively. For the case of the tokens, thinking and believing were used by the mothers and children most frequently. As the methods on how to use mental state terms were considered, the mothers and children used NENMS(Non-Elaborated Non-Mental State)most frequently.
Secondly, when the types and tokens of the mental state terms were taken into account, there were significant positive correlations between mothers’ mental state term sub-categories and children’s as the following: mothers’ emotion, thinking and believing, and knowing versus children’s. When the tokens were taken into account, mothers’ moral evaluation and obligation and children’s moral evaluation and obligation were significantly correlated. The correlation analysis gave significant positive correlations in mothers’ and children’s methods on how to use mental state terms.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 월령 36개월에서 70개월 유아와 이들의 어머니 76쌍이 글 없는 그림책을 읽으며 상호작용하는 동안 사용한 마음상태용어의 사용양상(유형, 빈도)과 사용방식에 대하여 살펴보았다. 그 결과, 첫째, 어머니는 마음상태용어를 전체 발화수의 34.06%, 유아는17.44%로 사용하였다. 마음상태용어의 하위범주별로 어머니는 정서, 유아는 사고 및 믿음의 말을 가장 다양한 유형으로 사용하였고, 또한 어머니와 유아 모두 사고 및 믿음의 말을 가장 빈번한 빈도로 사용하였다. 사용방식에서는 어머니와 유아 모두 NENMS(마음상태용어도 사용하지 않으며 인과적인 설명도 없음)방식을 가장 많이 사용하였다. 둘째, 마음상태용어의 유형과 빈도에 있어 어머니의 정서, 사고 및 믿음, 앎의 말과 유아의 정서,사고 및 믿음, 앎의 말간에 대체적으로 유의미한 정적상관이 나타났다. 또한 빈도에 있어어머니 도덕적 판단 및 의무의 말과 유아의 도덕적 판단 및 의무의 말간에도 유의미한 정적상관을 보였다. 마음상태용어 사용방식에 있어서도 어머니의 방식과 유아의 방식 간에유의미한 정적상관을 보였다.
