진도 씻김굿의 공연학적 재해석

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aims to reveal the performance characteristics of J indo Ssitgim Gut (soul-cleansing shamanism originated in Jindo, Korea) as they have relatively been less examined. From the perspective of performance science, this shamanistic ritual was analyzed in four aspects: 1) the ritual space, the sacrificial table, and shaman tools; 2) shamans succession; 3) changing processes of beings and consciousness; 4) seeing souls off and night-soothing play.
J indo Ssitgim Gut was found to eventually serve for social integrity and spiritual recharge. As a synthetic art, it is not far from a performance art. Rather, the traits of performance science were emphasized a lot. This total art of a sacrificial rite, therefore, naturally meets the desire of the audience. In other words, JSG is a festival giving us an occasion to reflect on life through death.
