This paper presents an analytical solution for wedge type extrusion process based on slip-line theory.
The analysis incoporates the hencky's equations medified for strain-hardening and the conventional hencky's first theorem. An approximate plane strain slip line solution to wedge type extrusion process involving a strain hardening material has been obtained.
The analytical methods presented in this paper are shown to provide a reasonable engineering solution to wedge-type extrusion in spite of the simplifying assumptions.
Initial prestrain prior to extrusion reduces the initial rapid change of yield streas and tends to produce a more accurate solution.
