Natural convectin on a fin has been investigated for an electrically conducting fluid under the influence of an applied magnetic field. Conjugate-problem approach is used to solve the problem in the regions of the fin and fluid. To solve the integrated governing equations, Runge-Kutta-Fehiberg scheme has been used together with a shooting method. The effects of Prandtl number, retardation parameter, and fin parameter on the characteristics of natural convection flows over the fin are studied.
It is shown that the applied magnetic field has a capability to effectively control the natural convection flow of electrically conducting fluids.
