[논문] 近代交通體系 發達모델의 韓半島 適用에 있어서의 問題點 = [ARTICLES] After Thought on the Model of Modern Transportation System in Korea

국문 초록 (Abstract)

‘근대’라는 말의 쓰임새는 동양과 서양에서 같이 않고, 같을 수도 없다고 본다. 보통 담론으로 말해지는 ‘근대’란 산업혁명에서 제국주의에 이르는 서양식의 근대 담론일 것이다. 그 경우 동양의 근대란 서양의 잣대로 형성된 근대에 불과한 경우가 많고, 지역연구의 학설에 있어서도 서양식의 견해가 그대로 적용될 경우가 많다. 제국주의시대 이후의 교통체계 변화에 대한 연구도 그렇다. 하지만 서양의 식민지 근대교통 발달모델은 첫째 어디부터 근대교통이고, 어디까지 전근대 교통인지에 대한 자의성을 지니고, 둘째, 한반도의 특수성 특히 지정학적, 지리학적, 요인을 별로 교려하지 않았고, 셋째, 전근대 교통로의 존재를 거의 무시하는 등의 문제점을 안고, 한반도에 그대로 적용시키기에는 어려울 것으로 보인다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Even Oriental geographers, including Korean, have accepted the Western theories about ‘modern’ development of transportation. They tried to apply them for Asia uncritically. Nevertheless, each Asian nations has their own circumstance which is not able to measure by the Western standard. In case of Korea, for instance, for the sake of their specific geopolitical, geographical, and historical conditions, there are lots of phenomena about transportation development that we cannot explain applying the Western results.
