Remarkable development of life science provided a variety of studies on clinical application and possibility in the field of medical supplies, medical devices, genome, stem cell research. Clinical trial should be designed and managed ethically and scientifically by reason of the properties of this kind of study. To answer this request, we should measure research methods and procedures by internationally standardized basis. Recent advances in the new technologies such as IT, BT, and NT have stimulated the development of the newly developed medical devices. However, by the lack of educate experts and investigators for clinical trial, it is difficult to conduct an effective trial for medical devices. Therefore. it is imperative to find and educate professionals necessary for clinical trials. And it is urgent to develop training programs and apply them in actual education field for experts including principle investigators, sub-investigators, and monitors concerned in medical device clinical trials. In this study, the result we conducted the current condition of internal and external training programs for clinical trials was that most of the training programs attached importance to clinical trial only for medical supplies. In case of overseas training programs, medical device training program session was partially included and advanced in the whole clinical trial education program. Therefore, training programs suited to current curriculums and characteristics of medical devices was organized and planned out training programs for medical device clinical trial professionals. With this in mind, we conducted survey on needs of education program. In this survey, the terms of reference were to poll a cohort of the people concerned with medical device clinical trial (doctors. study nurses. monitors, company representatives, administrative staff for IRB, government officers concerned. and others). And survey report was collected by a total of 600 paper and telephone based survey from August 23, 2006, to September 29, 2006. There were 472 responses received and utilized for this report. This survey shows more than 64% of respondents in all fields except for medical engineers(53%) agreed to necessity of training program. More than 73% excepting medical engineers (56.5%) have plan to participate in the training program. Compared to the other field respondents who fail to engage in the training program. most of respondents(80.6%) work for medical device company were not conscious of necessity of training program. The result shows that it is urgent to educate them to recognize necessity of medical device clinical trial. Training program simulation was held and evaluated intensively and it was aimed at providing medical device company representatives. as a clinical trial client. the opportunities to recognize the necessity of medical device clinical trial professionals. On the basis of evaluation and suggestions of the simulation, we completed final education program for this report.
