`재일조선인` 문학자들의 김사량문학 수용과정 연구 - 1970년대 전후를 중심으로 - = Zainichi Korean Writers` Reception of Kim Saryang`s Literary Works - with a focus on the 1970s -

This research aims to investigate the reception of Kim Saryang`s literary works by Zainichi Korean writers seeking to establish their position in the post-war Japanese literary world. Current research papers tend to focus on the link between Kim Saryang`s literature and Koreans living in Tokyo during the wartime period, or to Zainichi Koreans during the post-war era. However, there are few studies treating Zainichi Korean writers` reception of Kim`s literature and the role it played in their own thought and literary creations. I will focus on the reception of Kim Saryang`s literature by Zainichi Korean writers from two angles: first, by investigating why Zainichi Korean writers were continuously reevaluating Kim`s literary works during the post-war period-at a time when their own body of literature had been recognized within the Japanese literary world as a minority literature. Second, by researching what importance Zainichi Korean writers placed upon the relationship between Kim Saryang`s literary works and the Japanese language. By drawing on these two angles, I will reinterpret the reevaluation process with which Kim`s literature was interpreted by Zainichi Korean writers and Japanese critics in Japan after the post-war period. In the 1970`s, neither South nor North Korean researchers were able to fully reevaluate Kim`s literary works due to their own ideological agendas during the cold war system. However, Zainichi Korean writers who were impartial to the situation in both South and North Korea constantly summoned Kim`s literary work, even completing the compilation of his collected works. This clearly suggests a connection between Zainichi Korean writers` effort to revive Kim`s literature and their vocation to establish their own literature as a minority literature, written in Japanese, from within Japan.
