Despite being a major value education approach in social studies, value analysis has not been sufficiently examined theoretically or utilized in schools. This study aims to develop a more advanced discussion of the theory and issues of value analysis approach by reviewing existing discussions and applications of value analysis. First, based on the original text on value analysis, we reviewed the core contents of value analysis theory and examined how value analysis theory has been expanded. Based on these theoretical foundations, we analyzed the discussion and use of value analysis in Korean social studies. Specifically, this study analyzed theoretical discussions in introductory social studies education books and previous studies in Korea, and identified the use of value analysis in secondary school teacher appointment test questions, curricula, and textbooks. In this course, we summarize key issues in value analysis and propose a more advanced understanding and approach to existing assessments of the limitations of value analysis. If these discussions are meaningful, the understanding of value analysis can be further expanded, and it is expected that teachers in the field will be able to actively utilize value analysis with various teaching and learning materials in the future.
