설교자의 자기기만에 관한 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

좋은 설교에 대한 규정은 설교 ‘행위’가 아니라 ‘설교자’에 달려 있다는 사실을 전제로 할 때, 오늘날 강단의 회복을 위해 설교자들은 설교의 내용이나 전달 방법뿐만 아니라 근본적으로 설교자 자신에 대한 성찰이 필요하다. 본 논문은 설교자가 빠질 수 있는 세 가지 유형의 자기기만을 분석하고 그 대안을 제시한다. 첫째, 해석학적 자기기만이 있다. 성경 저자의 의도를 발견하기 위해 다양한 해석학적 과정을 거치지 않고 본문에 대한 이전의 경험 또는 선입견으로 획득된 의미를 마치 본문의 진정한 의미로 믿고 설교를 하는 것이다. 이를 피하기 위해 설교자가 무지의 베일을 쓰고 본문에 대한 귀납적 관찰을 통해 본문의 정확한 의미에 접근해 가는 해석학적 평형의 방법을 제안한다. 둘째, 설교자들은 실천적 자기기만에 빠질 가능성이 많다. 특별히 설교의 표절을 예로 들 수 있다. 실천적 자기기만을 피하기 위해 설교자는 자신의 윤리적 책무에 대한 깊은 자각을 가져야 하고 무엇보다 성령의 도우심을 구해야 한다. 설교자들의 마음의 감각이 성령의 빛을 통해 새로운 습관과 성향으로 만들어질 때 이런 자기기만의 책략에서 벗어날 수 있게 된다. 셋째, 본문 선택에서의 자기기만도 있다. 설교자 자신의 목적과 취향에 맞는 본문을 가지고만 설교할 경우 또 다른 형태의 eisegesis가 될 수 있다. 이를 피하기 위해 연속 강해 설교를 제안하며, 목회적 필요에 따라 주제별 강해 설교를 병행하는 것도 좋다. 사람들은 인정하기 힘든 고통스러운 진실을 회피하기 위해서, 도덕적 의무감을 회피하기 위해서, 또는 습관적이고 은밀한 죄를 반복적으로 저지르기 위해서 자기를 기만한다. 특별히 설교자들은 자기기만에 취약할 수 있음을 인지해야 한다. 강단의 회복을 위해 설교자들의 철저한 자기반성과 윤리적 갱신이 우선되어야 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The definition of good and effective preaching depends not upon preaching 'event', but ‘preacher' himself. Preachers who want to revive their pulpit should take time for introspection for themselves as well as sermon contents or delivery. This article analyzes three types of self-deception under which preachers easily fall and also proposes an alternative. First, we can think of hermeneutical self-deception. This appears when preachers skip various hermeneutical process for finding the intention of biblical author, believing that the meaning from their experience or preunderstanding can define the meaning of the text. I propose hermeneutical equilibrium in which preachers wear the veil of unawareness and approach the meaning of the text through inductive observation. Second, preachers are likely to fall under practical self-deception. The classic case is sermon plagiarism. In order to avoid practical self-deception, preachers should have a deep consciousness of their ethical obligation. Above all, they must seek the help of the Holy Spirit. Third, self-deception appears when preachers select the sermon texts only with their purpose and interest. It must be another type of eisegesis. I suggest sequential expository preaching and topical expository preaching according to pastoral needs. People deceive themselves in order to evade the bitter and painful truth, to neglect their moral duty, or repeatedly commit a habitual secret crime. Preachers especially need to acknowledge that they are vulnerable to self-deception.
