      다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

      This study is to analyze the status of Pre-service education, procedure and requirement of teacher certification of dance majors. In Korea, students who take part in teacher preparation programme have earned physical teacher certification. Qri the other hand, 14 programs of the US, students have earned dance teacher certification. The results which compare Pre-service education of Korea with that of the US are as follows. In case of the US, dance education major was established at the university and specialized programme was operated. It reflect national trends in teacher preparation in the arts and prepare students to work with learners in a variety of educational setting.
      In terms of subject of major, modern dance and ballet technique and creative dance, dance theory are constructed as basic elements of course. But main feature is that credit hours of dance education subject have high percent in comparison with Korea. While dance education theory, dance teaching methods are usually included as dance education course in Korea, more various and subdivided of it like methods of teaching children's dance, integrated approaches in dance education, methods of teaching contemporary dance technique and composition in secondary education etc were included in America.
      Moreover students engages in collaborative instructional methods designed to expertise in the teaching of dance. According as the partnership is built up between university and school field, students can enhance insights into school setting and practice instructional skills. The preceding study of Korea revealed that students perceived non rationality of field experience, more systematic and carefulness guide of it should be prepared. Dance have added as state certification areas in New York, students have to prepare certification exam as well as completion of curriculum.
      To cultivate well-qualified dance teachers, specialized programme and impartial and an objective procedure should be established.
