지혜의 전당이 아랍이슬람 세계 학문발전에 끼친 영향 연구 - 번역원 기능을 중심으로 -

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper is a study on the effect of Bayt al-Hikmah on the development of the knowledge in Arab Islam world focusing on a center for translation. Bayt al-Hikmah was the core of knowledge renaissance in Abbasid dynasty and the translation was the core of it. The translation movement started in the time of al Mansur and was developed in the time of Harun al Rashid and was flourished in the time of al Ma`mun. Al Mansur started it for political purpose and al Ma`mun promoted it for religious purpose. Many excellent translators who had different religions and nationalities, among them Persian mawali and Syrian Nestorians, worked at Bayt al-Hikmah. They mobilized systematic techniques for high quality of translation as like system of supervision and revision and re-translation. The translation led to excellent writings and development of the knowledge and diffusion of education. Arabs produced the great and unique knowledge through translation movement and gave an evidence that the knowledge can`t be restricted in a scope of a certain race or religion or civilization.
