The purpose of this study is to establish the education plan of Si-jo on nature through the relation between men and nature in Si-jo on nature in late Chosun dynasty. Therefore, this study is to define Sijo on nature emphasizing how the speaker of Si-jo considers the nature, not regarding the nature as the topic of Si-jo, and exploring the relationship between nature and a man shown in Sijo by extracting it in [Cheong-Gu-Yeong-Eon] and [Ka-Gok-Wol-Ryu] as the examples.
Recently, “nature” is an important theme for an objective of study and also very lively considered as much as it is referred “Ecological Literature” in the contemporary literature. However, in the field of classical literature, the result of the research is relatively poor and even if the research through the classical literature has been conducted, the research is mainly on the works in early Chosun dynasty as the object of the study. Actually, the study including Si-jo on nature in late Chosun dynasty or the study pursuing the answers of the questions on current issues through the overall flow of the ecological literature is uncommon, and so the Si-jo on nature in early Chsun dynasty and continuous understanding of current ecological literature in the aspect of literature education is in disconnected situation.
Also, reviewing in the aspect of “continuous understanding”, “nature” is expressed as the main theme in Si-jo on nature of classical literature, ecological poem of contemporary literature and natural poem of Cheong-Rok-Pa(School of Blue-Green Color) in the 1950s and the 1960s and also the diachronic aspects among the relationship of those are insufficient.
Therefore, this study is to identify the aspects of nature appeared in the current literature education by diagnosing it, and to review the changes between the man and nature appearing in Chosun dynasty through Sijo on nature in the two Si-jo (Books of Si-jo) that represents late Chosun dynasty and to find the point usefully affecting to the learners by including diachronic and continuous flow of Si-jo on nature, natural poem and ecological poem. It can be divided into three steps and suggested as follows.
At first, views of nature that can be seen in the aspect of adolescents through a survey have a tendency to regard natural as a simple resort or recognized as environmental protected factor, and when reviewing the contents regarding nature in literature education, those can be expressed to the core words such as “nature”, “community”, ”ecology” and “environment”
Other than identifying the common meaning that those terms have, when reviewing how those terms are intended in the literature education and actually reflected in the text book, the problems making the distance between the actual learners’ recognition of reality and Si-jo on nature suggested in the literature education can be found forming that nature gives the Confucian enlightenment of the speaker or harmonious utopia because the teaching in the textbook is focused on Si-jo on nature in early Chosun dynasty.
At second, to explore how the Korean poem mainly about nature will be approached educationally, Si-jo on nature in the poetry of Si-jo (book of Si-jo) was analyze in the aspect of the relationship between the speaker of the poem and the nature.
Mainly seven views of nature were found as a result. In early Chosun dynasty, if nature was regarded as manly an absolute thing or unified as harmonious thing, nature in late Chosun dynasty was identified possibly to make a various relationship with nature and oneself by being regarded as the thing to express subjective emotion.
This not only shows that view of nature changes to property of personal emotion in late Chosun dynasty, but also including the Confucian view of nature in early Chosun dynasty and shows that Sijo on nature in late Chosun dynasty making more various relationship. In other words, the fact that views of nature in early Chosun dynasty has been existed, but Si-jo on nature in late Chosun dynasty was making various relationships.
Therefore, if the world of speakers in Si-jo on nature in early Chosun dynasty was the political reality, mature, other than the directive reality called politics, was seen as the world the speaker and how relationship between nature and the world will be made and it will be expressed in the literature and the fact that nature is making a various relationship with the thing that was regarded as the world was the main theme of Si-jo on nature in late Chosun dynasty.
At third, the view of nature variously changed in late Chosun dynasty provides learners with experiences in literature making a relationship in a various aspect through Si-jo on nature in late Chosun dynasty and has opportunities exploring various worlds to meet in the lives of individuals and finding how to make the relationship. Furthermore, making such various relationships in late Chosun dynasty was moved forwarded from schematized education through Sijo on nature in early Chosun dynasty and to become an important experience to view as a feature of literature by connecting with modern ecological literature finding the identity between a man and nature that makes the essence of literature, expressing introspection on the relationship, more abundant.
However, this study has a limit that the works that the writers have not been identified were not accurately analyzed and the identification of Si-jo on nature excluded from the argument including poetry of Si-jo was not treated.
However, regarding the current concerns in literature education on nature, relatively faithful review of changing process of intention and terms in the theme of nature based on the contents of literature education was conducted, and the educational situation of Si-jo on nature was analyzed so that the intention to be suggested in literature education is expressed in the textbook, to make classical literature is reflected in the present through classical Si-jo by identifying the problems and finding the solution, and to confirm that the essence of literature education as well as diachronic view of Korean poetry on nature can be accomplished.
Even if the amount of the study is small, hopefully this study is expected to be actively recognized for the application to our lives as one meaning for the works of literature to find the current problems.
