문화역사적 활동이론을 통한 시민사회단체의 활동체계 분석:A마을활동가단체를 중심으로 = Analysis of the Activity System of Civil Society Organization through Cultural Historical Activity Theory(CHAT): Focusing on the ‘A Maeul Activist Organization’

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 교육과 사회의 근본적인 변혁이 요청되는 대전환시대에 풀뿌리 시민사회단체들의 성장과 발전이 중요한 과제라는 점에서 시민사회단체가 겪고 있는 조직문제에 주목하였다. 문화역사적 활동이론(Cultural Historical Activity Theory)을 바탕으로 시민사회단체의 활동체계와 모순을 분석하기 위하여 ‘A마을활동가단체’를 중심으로 질적사례연구를 수행하였다. 활동체계 삼각모형과 모순의 4가지 수준을 활용하여 주체(Subject), 객체(Object), 매개체/도구(Instruments), 규칙(Rules), 커뮤니티(Community), 분업(Division of Labor)의 측면에서 A마을활동가단체의 활동체계를 분석하였으며, 객체의 변화를 중심으로 한 활동체계의 모순 분석을 시도하였다. 분석 결과, 마을활동가에서 정책과 이슈로 객체의 중심이 이동하는 변화에 따라 활동체계의 다양한 측면에서 내･외부의 모순이 심화되었음을 확인하였다. 주체이자 객체로서 마을활동가가 갖고 있는 제1모순을 비롯하여 제2모순으로 객체에 대한 이해 대립과 이탈 현상, 재정 모순과 객체-수단의 전도, 객체를 추동하고 거부하는 규칙과 분업을 확인하였으며, 객체의 변화에 따른 기존 활동방식과 새로운 활동방식 간의 간극(제3모순), 객체의 변화로 새롭게 생성된 A연합 활동체계와의 모순(제4모순)까지 살펴볼 수 있었다. 이러한 모순은 활동체계에 대한 구성원들의 강한 문제의식과 질문을 불러일으켰으며, 변화를 위한 집단적 노력의 잠재력을 형성하였다. 이를 통해 본 연구는 시민사회단체의 여러 과제와 어려움에 대하여 활동체계의 구성요소와 그 안의 관계성 및 상호작용을 이해하고, 불명확한 모순을 구체화하여 제시했다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 또한, 시민사회단체의 활동체계가 가진 모순은 혼란과 갈등을 낳는 중요한 문제이기도 하지만, 동시에 의문을 제기하고 벗어나기 위해 노력하는 변화와 혁신의 원동력이 될 수 있다는 점에서 새로운 활동체계로의 발전 가능성에 기여한 의미가 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study focused on the organizational problems that civil society organizations are experiencing, considering that the growth and development of grassroots civil society organizations are important tasks in a time of great transition that requires fundamental transformation of education and society. Based on the Cultural historical activity theory(CHAT), a qualitative case study on the ‘A Maeul Activist Organization’ was conducted to analyze the activity system and contradictions of civil society organizations. Accordingly, the activity system of this Organization was analyzed in terms of subject, object, instrument, rules, community, and division of labor. And we analyzed the contradictions that deepened as the objects of the activity system changed. The primary contradiction confirmed the internal contradictions of the Maeul activists, and the secondary contradiction organized the conflicts, clashes, and confrontations between the components of the activity system. The tertiary contradiction confirmed the gap between the existing and new activity form. The Quaternary contradiction analyzed the contradictions with the new surrounding activity system due to the change in the object. These contradictions have raised strong concerns and questions about the activity system members, and have formed the potential for collective efforts for change. Through this, this study is significant in that it understands the interaction of the activity system regarding various tasks and difficulties of civil society organizations, and presents unclear contradictions in detail. In addition, the contradictions in the activity system of civil society organizations are important issues that create confusion and conflict, but at the same time, they are meaningful in that they can raise questions and become a driving force for change and innovation, contributing to the possibility of development.
