    The purpose of this study is to show that 1)the tourist motivation consist of factors of
    variables, 2)the central backbone of motivation, and 3)the segmentation of korean
    tourists. This research was conducted through two studies: a literature review to guide
    the conceptual development of the tourist motivation/segmentation and a survey for
    empirical exploration of the ideas. The empirical data are extracted through convenience,
    and the valid questionnaires being recollected totaled to 1092. The Frequency,
    Descriptive, Factor, Cluster, Discriminant, Cross-tabulation analysis were used for the
    data analysis. The results of this study indicate that 1)the korean tourism motivation is
    consisted of 12 factors. 2)the key elements play a major role, central backbone, in
    tourism motivation. 3)the tourism market was divided into 3 different groups.
    Theoretical and practical implications of these results were discussed in the empirical
    test. The results of this study will not only contributes to a better understanding of
    korean tourism due to clarification/segmentation of korean tourist motivations but also
    have implication for the development and management of tourism marketing strategy.
