    In order to develop P-y curves in weathered rock, three complementary phases of work have been followed. The first phase involves Finite Element Method (F.E.M.) modeling using the ABAQUS computer program for 3-dimensional analytical modeling ofresistance media forms, the second phase is laboratory work to model the characteristics of P-y curves in simulated material, and thethird phase is field testing using full scale shafts to develop and verify P-y curves in weathered rock. Each of three phases of work isdescribed in this paper. A hyperbolic function is proposed to be P-y curve model for weathered rock with two parameters, thesubgrade modulus (kh) and the ultimate resistance (Pult). In this paper, a new concept of the point of rotation is developed as a part oftu rockdilatometer is demonstrated.
