Each 200 boys and girls, totally 800 students who were living in big, medium and small cities in metropolitan area except Seoul were selected for questionnaire in other to analyze the effects of TV program on the sports participation of middle school students. According to the data the way of statistical χ^2 test with percent(%) were used. As a result, I gained following conclusions. ① TV sports programs are the most important media for teaming sports knowledge. ② TV sports programs were seen 30minutes or less on weekdays and boys watched TV sportscast much more than girls. They were seen an hour or less on the holidays and boys watched TV sportscast much more than girls. ③ Because of no interest on the sports, many students didn`t watch TV sports programs. If the students who had no interest on it watched TV sportscast, many students of them watched on it(p<0.001). ④ TV sports relay broadcasting made the students` interest on TV to be higher.(p<0.001). ⑤ Students were fond of especially soccer, basketball and swimming. They liked another kinds of sports, too. ⑥ The kinds of sports that frequently watched on TV that wanted to watch or to learn are similar to being preferred kinds of sports, but they wanted to learn basketball the most. ⑦ The kinds of sports being good at rules or techniques were similar to being preferred sports. ⑧ Sport participation rate of boys wass higher than that of girls in cognitive, affective and behavioral involvement. The comparison of sport involvement between districts showed the big cities were higher than the other cities(p<0.001).
