윤대녕 소설의 공간과 토포필리아(Topophilia) = A notion of space in Yoon Dea-Nyung's novels and Topophilia

국문 초록 (Abstract)

윤대녕 소설에서 내면성 추구는 장소 즉 공간과 긴밀한 관련성을 지니고 있다. 윤대녕 소설은 돈황, 신촌, 광화문, 강릉, 속초, 동해, 울진 왕피천, 양양 남대천 등 구체적인 공간을 사실적으로 서술하는데, 이 물리적인 공간은 단순한 배경이 아니라 등장인물의 자의식으로 치환되는 심리적인 공간이다. 윤대녕 소설은 ‘지금, 여기’가 아니라, 저쪽 세계를 향해 끊임없이 이동하는 과정을 이야기한다. 그의 소설에서 주인공들은 걷거나 차를 타고 이동하면서 구체적인 외적 세계를 지각하는데, 구체적인 공간과 공간 이동은 등장인물의 내적 세계와 직결되어 있다. 또한 윤내녕 소설은 자기 내면을 향한 영혼의 여정을 담아낸다. 내적 여정은 여자와의 사랑을 통해 또는 자기의 길을 찾음으로써 자기 구원에 이르는 관정을 서술한다. 그런데 그의 소설에서 여자와의 사랑은 소통 부재와 존재론적인 고독을 심화시키고, 길 찾기도 자의식의 혼란을 가중시킬 뿐이다. 윤대녕 소설은 존재의 시원과 생명의 근원으로 향하는 본질적인 내면성 추구가 ‘동해’와 강원도 영동지역이라는 특정한 공간과 밀접한 관련성을 지니고 있다. 삼척의 기곡천, 양야의 남대천, 동해는 존재의 시원에 대한 근원적인 부재의식인 동시에 생명의 본향을 향한 회유의 공간이며, 자기 존재의 심연을 확인하는 공간이다. ‘동해’‘강릉’‘속초’는 생명의 근원, 자기 존재의 본향으로 향하는 실존적인 공간이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to establish a specific characteristic notion of space in Yoon Dae-Nyung's novels. Yoon Dae-Nyung is a unique writer who searches for the nature of the existence of human being through the notion of space and time. In his novel, a specific space reflects characters inner thoughts.
For example, in 「Piano and Lily's dessert'」, the main character sought for his identity through a journey in Dong hwang dessert and in other novels, the characters sought for the meaning of one's existence through either wondering from place to place to place in Seoul or leaving the city. He presents a direct connection between a specific space and migration and characters inner world in his novels.
He explores a soul and the root of life through the journey round, the dessert and the sea, leaving and coming. Also, Youngdong, the region of Kang-Won province such as Sokcho, Yangyang, Kangryung, Donghae, and Samchuk is one of the most frequently cited locations. These places are to present to the source of one's life and existence. Namely, Youngdong holds an important meaning as Topophilia in his novels.
