포스트휴먼-너머의 윤리에 관한 시론(試論)- 장자(莊子)의 ‘생명의 윤리’를 바탕으로 - = An Essay on the Ethics Beyond Posthuman- Focusing on Zhuangzi’s ‘Ethics of Life’ -

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 글의 목적은 인류세 개념의 등장과 디지털지능의 고도화로 본격화된 포스트휴머니즘 논의에 대한 비판적 성찰을 바탕으로 포스트휴먼-너머의 윤리를 탐색하는 것이다. 이를 위해 생명이란 무엇인지, 인간이 주체가 아닌 생명세계는 긍정될 수 있는지 근본적인 물음을 던지고 장자철학을 바탕으로 이에 답한다. 윤리는 존재론의 토대 위에 있을 때 실천의 힘을 발휘하므로 먼저 ‘생명의 존재론’에 대해 고찰한다. 이 세계의 모든 사물들은 ‘도(道)’의 내재성과 ‘기(氣)’의 작용성, ‘물화(物化)’의 관계성을 지닌 생명의 존재이다. 그 생명성이 당위의 근거가 되는 것이 ‘생명의 윤리’이다. 윤리는 능동적 실천이므로 주체가 전제되는데 장자의 주체는 호흡하듯이 빈-중심으로 대상과 관계맺는 ‘생명-주체’이다. ‘신(神)’과 ‘명(明)’을 통해 생명-주체의 힘과 그 윤리적 판단에 대해 확인할 수 있다. 결국 포스트휴먼-너머의 윤리는 스스로 생명이 되는, 그 복귀의 과정에서 실천되는 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this article is to explore ethics beyond the posthuman, based on a critical reflection on the posthumanist debate, which has intensified with the emergence of the Anthropocene concept and the advancement of digital intelligence. To this end, I pose fundamental questions about what life is and whether a world of life, not dominated by humans, can be affirmed. Drawing on the philosophy of Zhuangzi, I answer these questions. All things in this world are living beings possessing the inherent nature of ‘Tao(道)’, the functional nature of ‘Qi(氣)’, and the relational nature of ‘Wuhua(物化)’. ‘Ethics of life’ is the foundation of legitimacy. Ethics, as an active practice, presupposes a subject. Zhuangzi’s subject is the ‘life-subject’ that relates to objects with an empty-center, like breathing. Through ‘Shen(神)’ and ‘Ming(明)’, we can confirm the power of the life-subject and its ethical judgment. Ultimately, ethics beyond the posthuman are practiced in the process of returning to life itself.
