The underground structure in and around the Mt. Chum area, Sunchun, Cheollanam-Do is studied by analysing gravity data and the results are as follows :
The underground structure of the studied area is interpreted as two-layers. The upper layer is consist of volcanic rocks, and the lower layer is sedimentary rocks in Cretaceous and Pre-Cambrian metamorphic rocks. The best density contrast between these two layers is 0.13g/㎤. The depth of the volcanic tuff layer is undulated from surface to 10km and it is increase towards the center of the layer concentrically. With this results, it is considered that the studied area represented a typical cauldron structure.
