    A critical exploration of the definitions of integrals in Korean high school mathematics

    This paper focuses on critical issues in the current Korean high school mathematics textbooks based on the 2015 curriculum, which treat the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus as the definition of integral. Specifically, we analyze the mathematical shortcomings of this approach through various examples and compare it with previous Korean curricula as well as AP and IB mathematics programs. Finally, we discuss the proper definition of an integral and explore advanced topics, such as approximation and error estimates, which could be incorporated into an enriched high school mathematics curriculum.
