규장각 소장 『영변지도』의 원형 복원 모사 연구 = Reproduction of Kyujanggak’s “Yeongbyeonjido” Atlas

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The “Yeongbyeonjido” map collection consists of a preface and four maps. It is held by the Kyujanggak Institute of Korean Studies. The maps were made in the late 18th century and were originally bound into an atlas. However, at some later point the maps were separated and made into hanging scrolls. Based on literary and scientific research, the original atlas form was reproduced. Damaged portions were restored through a comparative study of similar maps, and the traditional paper and pigments, as well as the line and coloring techniques of the “Yeongbyeonjido” maps were analyzed though scientific investigations. In addition to the research data gained in its creation, this reproduction provides an alternative version of the map collection that is similar to its original form. Additionally, this study provides a foundation for future cartographic research through its examination of materials and production techniques.
