신사실파의 ‘사실성’ 의미 연구 = The Significance of ‘Reality’ in the ‘Sinsasil-pa(New Realism)’ Movement

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 해방과 전쟁기에 한국적 모더니즘의 첫 그룹 운동인 ‘신사실파’ 의 예술 개념과 의미를 프랑스의 레알리테 누벨과의 영향 관계 안에서 파악하고자 시도한다. 이 그룹이 내세운 명칭인 ‘신사실’에 있어서 ‘사실(寫實)’의 한자어는 서구의 모방론 혹은 재현론에 입각한 대상 묘사의 사실성(事實性)이나프랑스에서 시작된 근현대의 ‘레알리즘(Réalsime)’ 전통이 지닌 의미와는 구별되어야 한다. ‘신사실파’는 조형 양식상 자연주의와 추상이라는 이분법적 대립 구도와는 별개의 사실성을 내세우며 현실의 외적 실제 너머의 본질로서의사실, 즉 ‘유토피아’적 실체를 시각화하고자 하였다. 그리고 이는 양식적 추상(abstrait)과 예술적 창조(création)의 새로운 관계 설정에 있어서 프랑스의 ‘레알리테 누벨(Réalités Nouvelles)’로부터 영향을 받은 것으로 파악할 수 있다. 신사실파는 해방공간에서의 극심한 이념 대립 중 좌익 계열이 내세운 ‘사회주의 리얼리즘’의 ‘사실(事實)’과 구별하고 거리를 두기 위해 “사물의 보이지 않는 부분까지 온전한 모습으로서의 실재”의 의미로서 새로운 사실(新寫實)을표방했던 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aims to identify the artistic concept and the meaning of ‘Sinsasil-pa(New Realism),’ the first Korean modernist movement after Korea's Independence, by tracing the influence of Réalités Nouvelles in terms of the relevance between reality and the real. The term ‘Sinsasil,’ the new reality in Chinese letters, must be distinguished from the reality of depiction based on the Western mimesis theory or modern Realism begun during the mid-nineteenth century in France. The members of the Sinsasil-pa claimed a disparate reality more than the dichotomous conflict between naturalism and abstraction in artistic forms, so as to visualize the real, a ‘Utopian’ truth as the essentials beyond external reality. Therefore, the formation of ‘Sinsasil-pa’ is found on the line of the influence by French Réalités Nouvelles to form its artistic concept in a new setting of relation between formal abstraction and artistis creation.
