웹사이트 이용자의 클릭패턴 결정요인에 대한 연구 = I 사 클릭스트림 데이터를 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

특정 웹사이트에 접속한 사용자의 모든 클릭을 기록하고 있는 클릭 스트림 데이터와 사용자들에 대한 설문조사 결과를 결합하여 분석한 이 논문은 사용자들의 클릭 행동에 특정한 패턴이 존재하는지, 그리고 만약 그러한 패턴이 존재한다면 특정 클릭 패턴을 발전시키는 데에 영향을 미치는 요인이 무엇인지를 밝히고자 하였다. 분석결과 사용자들의 클릭 행동에는 뚜렷이 구분할 수 있는 몇 가지의 패턴이 존재하였으며, 여기에는 온-오프라인 경험의 상호작용, 자신이 소속된 사이버 커뮤니티에 대한 정서적 만족감, 그리고 연령 등이 중요한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 인터넷의 익명성과 개인의 원자화에 대한 일반적 우려와는 달리 무심코 하는 클릭 행동에서조차도 사회적 관계가 중요한 영향을 미치고 있음을 보여준다. 사이버 공간에서 맺어지는 사회적 관계에 대한 만족감은 도구적 행동을 자제하도록 만들고, 잘 알지 못하는 이들을 대상으로 이타적 행동을 하도록 하기도 한다. 또한 특정 웹사이트를 열성적으로 사용하는 사람들은 인터넷을 통한 도구적 이익을 극대화할 수 있는 단기시장보다는 오히려 안정적인 거래의 연결망을 더 선호하는 것으로 나타난다. 이러한 결과들로부터 판단할 때, 인터넷의 확산과 더불어 일어나는 사회적 관계의 실종에 대한 우려는 과장되었다고 보이며, 사회적 관계는 실종되고 있는 것이 아니라 변형되고 있다고 보아야 할 것이다. 이 논문에서 분석하고 있는 극소단위 자료는 향후 사이버 공간의 사회학을 위한 중요한 지렛대가 될 수 있으리라고 기대한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

By combining survey results and click-stream data which record every click visitors have made in a particular web site, this paper attempts to find if there are identifiable patterns in the clicks visitors make and, if so, factors affecting people to develop a certain click pattern. The result shows that there do exist clearly identifiable click patterns. The experience to meet with online friends offline, the satisfaction people feel with the cyber community they belong to, and age are the important factors that affect people to develop a certain click pattern. People satisfied with the online social relationship tend to not only abstain from egoistic instrumental behavior but even behave altruistically to the people they do not really know in person. Heavy users of the web site prefer stable transaction networks to an arm's length market. Judging from these results, the popular diagnosis that the spread of the Internet leads to the vanishing of social relations seems exaggerated. Social relations are not vanishing, but being transformed. The author also would like to emphasize the importance of the click-stream data, which is the most detailed data one can imagine on people's online behavior, for the sociology of cyberspace.
