This study intends to testify interaction effects of general theory (internal factor) and social bond theory (external factors) for explaining Korean juvenile delinquency. We used KYPS (Korea Youth Panel Survey) data to examine several hypotheses and foWld out some implications. Firstly, we showed that low seH-<:ontrol had directly significant effects on both status delinquency and serious delinquency. Secondly, we could find that the variables of social bond were different according to the type of delinquency. In case of status delinquency, we found that attachment for parents, attachment for teachers, conforming attitudes for conventional values, grade, and leisure/activities directly had significant effects on delinquent behaviors. On the other hand, attachment for parents, attachment for teachers, and leisure/activities had directly significant effects on serious delinquency. lhirdly, we could say the effect of low self-control on delinquency was moderated by factors of social bond. Status delinquency was affected by interaction effects between low self-control and grade. In case of serious delinquency, interaction effects between low self-control and attachment for parents, grade and leisure/activities were statistically significanl But it seems that interaction effects were different by gender because of low self-control of female students was more likely moderated by factors of social bond than that of male students.
