In the design of roadway curves, safety should be considered as an upmost important factor. Especially, it is necessary to define the relationships between minimum curve radius, maximum superelevation and side friction for curve sections under driving behaviors. The objective of this study is to enhance traffic safety by suggesting the improvement alternatives through evaluating the horizontal curve appropriateness of geometric features. In this study, the relationships between traffic accidents and horizontal curve design criteria, the relationships between driving behaviors and horizontal curve were reviewed according to single and/or continuous curves. Some improvement alternatives of horizontal curve design guide were suggested.
