This study aimed to analyse and compare the competition anxiety levels of difference sports players. Subjects of this study consisted of 46 judoists, 21 taekwondoists, 12 boxers, 22 wrestlers, 13 kandoists, and 19 ssireum(Korea wrestling) players from K college students along with 31 basket players, 42 baseball players, 36 rugby players, and 30 ice-hockey players from Y university students.
The Sport Competition Anxiety Test(SCAT) was used to measure the sport competition anxiety levels of the combative events players and ball players. And the Analysis of variance(ANOVA) with post-hoc analyses were used to test the difference of SCAT scores among the sport events.
The results from the study were as follows:
1. The competition anxiety level of the combative events players was higher than that of ball game players.
2. There were statistically significant difference in anxiety level between Kando and taekwondo, Kando and boxing, Kando and ssireum, judo and taekwondo players.
3. The competition anxiety levels of players of baseball, basketball, rugby, and ice-hockey was similar.
The results, taken altogether, were interpreted to suggest that the degree of arousal for maximum(ideal)performance is similar among combative sports players and ball game players, respectively.
