한국 가족치료에 적용된 포스트모던 실천 원리에 대한 고찰 = Korean Family Therapists’ Acceptance of Postmodern Therapeutic Ideas

Objectives: This study examined the theoretical developments and clinical practices that have emerged in family therapy in the postmodern era and exploredthe acceptance of postmodern therapeutic ideas among Korean family therapists. Methods: Nine Korean clinical cases were examined using qualitative content analysis in order to find the acceptance and application of six specific postmodern practice ideas. Results: The results revealed that the therapists properly and effectively applied the specified postmodern ideas to their cases. It was found that the principles requiring a thorough understanding of a narrative paradigm were used less by Korean family therapists than principles that were more consistent with Korean culture. Conclusions: Korean family therapists appear to be adopting postmodern ideas in their clinical practice and are slowly turning to a narrative paradigm.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

1980년대부터 가족치료계에 도입된 포스트모더니즘은 가족치료에서 인식론의 변화와 더불어 치료자들의 실천 양식을 변화 시켰다. 포스트모던 가족치료는 거리를 둔 합리적인 대화를 지양하고 가족들에게 유용하며 적절한 의미와 현실의 구성에 초점을 둔다. 이 연구의 목적은 포스트모던 가족치료의 이론과 모델에 나타난 실천 원리가 한국 가족치료 현장에서 적절히 적용되어 실제로 한국 가족들에게 도움이 되고 있는 지를 살펴보고 포스트모던 실천 원리의 실용성을 가늠해 보는 것이다. 이를 위해 Strong(2000)이 제시한 포스트모던 치료에서 사용되는 여섯 가지 실천 원리를 분석틀로 사용하여 발표된 사례들을 질적으로 내용 분석하였고 그 결과 비록 소수이지만 한국 가족치료자들은 포스트모던 실천 원리를 적절히 이해하였고 사례에 실제로 적용하였음을 찾을 수 있었다. 포스트모던의 실천 원리 중 내러티브 패러다임을 기반으로 하는 의미의 협상과 초청하는 대화의 원리는 한국의 문화적 배경과의 차이로 인한 제한점으로 많이 사용되지는 않았으나 치료 상황에서 내담자의 정체성을 새롭게 하고 대화의 방향을 전환시키는 데에 매우 영향력 있는 원리임을 발견할 수 있었다.
