길 없는 청춘들의 서사 = The Narrative of Youths on No Way

국문 초록 (Abstract)

오늘날 공공의 체험으로 귀착된 불안을 어떻게 실천적으로 극복할 것인가라는 문제의식 아래 이글은 최근에 나온, 특히 청년의 불안을 다루고 있는 네 편의 소설들을 살펴본 것이다.
이 글의 기본적인 입장은 시대적 불안의 원인이 사회적 관계성의 파탄에 있다는 것, 아울러 관계성의 파탄은 타자에게 그가 지닌 본질적 가치(사용가치)나 구체적 특질(단독성)과는 상관없이 일반성의 잣대를 들이댐으로써 타자를 재단하거나 배제하는 폭력적 절차에서 비롯되었다는 것이다. 그러한 폭력성을 감추고 있는 사유를 이 글에서는 유아론(唯我論)이라 규정했다.
사회적 불안을 직조해내는 관계성의 파탄과 유아론적 가상의 메커니즘을 놓치게 된다면, 우리가 사회를 관망할 때 사회와의 연결 고리가 차단된 고립된 개체들만 포착하게 된다는 사실을 강조하고자 했다. 이를 검토하기 위해 이 글에서는 『부코스키가 간다』, 『담배 한 개비의 시간』, 『제리』 등 세 편의 작품을 오늘날 청년들의 세태 혹은 풍속도 읽기라는 차원에서 분석했고, 『철수 사용 설명서』를 그러한 세태를 규정하는 근원적 메커니즘을 읽기 위한 단서로 활용하고자 했다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Today, anxiety has come to public experience. With critical mind of the fact, this study reviewed four novels lately published and dealing with youths' anxiety to overcome that practically.
First, the study assumes that the cause of anxiety of the times is based on failure of social relationship, and the failure derives from a violent process to judge or exclude others by applying general standards regardless of individual intrinsic value (value in use) or specific characteristics (singularity). The thinking covering such violence is defined as solipsism.
If we neglect the failure of relationship generating social anxiety and assumed solipsistic mechanism, it is clear that our observation of the society will capture only individuals isolated from the link to the society. To examine this, the study analyzed the works, 『Bukowski goes』, 『Time for a cigarette』, and 『Gerry』 to read the social conditions and public morals of today's youths, and 『Use of Cheol-soo』 as a clue to read an essential mechanism defining such social conditions.
