In order to determine the optimum decolorizing conditions for rice brane oil, the decolorizing capacities of the several active clays sold in domestic market were studied under various conditions such as tempperature, sulfuric acid added and the properties of the sample oil. Furthermore the capacities were comprared with adsorption index.
The addition of sulfuric acid, 0.05-0.08 wt%(72% Cone-H_2SO_4)to the sample oil and heating to 95-100℃ is preferable.
Wet clay(10-14% moisture containing) is greater than dry clay in decolorizing capacity.
The less value of S.E.A.I.(Specific Erhyl Alcohol Adsorption Index) shows the greater decotorizing capacity.
