The purpose of this study was to examine the variables which were related to children's social support through developing a scale of social support of children. The subjects were 671 children of 4th and 6th grade in elementary in Seoul. The data were analyzed by one-way ANOVA and Duncan Multiple Range Test.
The main results of this study were as follows.
First, girls appraised higher teacher support than boy's did. Girls reported higher levels of receipt of self-esteem support, and listed more members as providers of informational support and self-esteem support as compared to boys.
Second, there were no significant differences of family member.
Third, the higher educational level of parents, the higher perceived support, enacted support and support network of subscale.
Forth, the children whose mothers stayed at home perceived higher family support and peer support than the children whose mothers worked outside home.
