In the trans-boundary cultural contexts, with a special regard to the severed and fragmented subjectivity of women, this theological focus on ‘boundary’ seeks to reconfigure the ‘in-betweenness’ as the creative space. That is, this feminist theological study on the boundary reexamines bordered moments, in-between spaces, and interstitial reality as the redemptive space. Indeed, in the theological realm, the classificatory power, making boundaries, continues to compel attempts at ‘baptizing’ through logos-centric thinking system. This article thereby tries to creatively grasp the ‘in-between’ reality repressed within the Western dualistic thinking system of ‘one and the other,’ respecting differences. On this basis, it attempts to reactivate the in-between characteristics in special terms of the Sophia God, the Christological incarnation, and the subjectivity of women. More specifically, grappling with the ‘(m)other’ erased and effaced in the conventional theological discourses, this study critically reconfigures the relational and dynamic characteristics of God and Jesus/Christ. This attempt to theologize the ‘boundary,’ the ‘in-between space,’ will concretely describe the permeably relatedness of the one and the other and also the divine and the non-divine, steering the direction of theology of God-talk so that women can tenaciously envision their hope and salvation. Here, the bridge I am reinforcing between theology and other theoretical findings allows me both to criticize the traditional doctrines and to pursue a possibility of women`s experience of a salvific effect of God. I believe, the images of Sophia God and the incarnated presence of Jesus/Christ should be re-read differently and appropriately in this trans-national and multicultural context. Further, this feminist theological insights on boundary or borderland recognizes that the imperialistic domination no longer belongs simply to the imperialistic attitude of the West. Indeed, in the context of imperialistically patriarchal society, a national integrity or cultural superiority which has been reinforced is also problematic. Thus, this article tackles the problematic issues, seeking a more critical and more inclusive view of solidarity of women. For the sake of a localized but not an exclusive theology, theologizing the symbolic meaning of ‘boundary’ is the inevitable tasks of feminist theology. I think, insofar as the simple distinction between the one and the other, life as a whole life is unsustainable. In this vein, this study consequently articulates that the boundaries are always porous and the efficacy of God reenacts within this ‘in-between bordered reality.’
