The reaction between cementated copper powder of average radius 1.2 ×10?㎝ and sulfur dioxide of 1.54, 2.66 and 3.13 volume percent in the air was carried out in a fixed bed reactor over a temperature range of 300-500℃. Experimental results showed that the optimum reaction temperature for the removal of sulfur dioxide was 422℃ and the removal efficiency was improved at low inlet concentration of sulfur dioxide. The reaction between cupric oxide powder and sulfur dioxide was interpredted by shrinking unreacted core model and chemical reaction was found to be rate controlling step. The rate epuation of the reaction was as follow.
