우리나라 노인의 죽음준비 유형과 결정요인 = Typology of Death Preparation of Korean Older People and Its Determinants

국문 초록 (Abstract)

삶의 마지막 단계인 노년기는 죽음에 직면하는 생애주기이며 죽음을 잘 준비하는 것은 성공적 노화에 중요한 영향을 미친다. 본 연구는 우리나라 노인들의 죽음준비를 유형화하고 그 결정 요인을 분석해 노년기 삶의 질에 기여할 수 있는 바람직한 죽음준비에 관한 시사점을 도출하는데 목표가 있다.
분석을 위해 󰡔2020년 노인실태조사󰡕 자료를 활용했으며 노인의 죽음준비 유형화를 위해 잠재계층분석 방법과 죽음준비유형 결정요인을 분석하기 위해 다항로지스틱 회귀분석을 활용하였다. 분석 결과‘물질적 죽음준비형’, ‘죽음준비 회피형’, ‘최소 죽음준비형’, ‘균형적 죽음준비형’ 등의 네 가지 죽음준비유형이 도출되었다. 또한 죽음준비 회피형을 기준집단으로 다항로지스틱 회귀분석을 실시한 결과학력, 연령, 성별, 소득수준, 종교, 삶의 만족도, 사회적지지, 사회시설 이용 정도 등은 유형을 결정하는 변인으로 밝혀졌다. 특히 종교가 있을수록, 사회적지지가 높을수록 타 유형보다 죽음준비 회피형에 속할 확률이 높게 나타나 죽음준비에 있어 종교와 친밀한 사회적지지의 영향보다 죽음준비에 관한 정보를 획득하고 새로운 경험의 기회가 제공되는 시설 및 인프라의 경험이 더 직접적인 변인으로작용할 수 있음을 제기했다

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Everyone has to face death during old age and many previous research suggested that successful death preparation during old age leads to successful aging and enhances life quality. This study assumes that death preparation may not be as simple as ‘do’ or ‘don’t’ and their could be many typologies of death preparation. Thus, the objective of this study is to typologize Korean senior’s death preparation and analyze its determinants. The results found are as follows.
First, four typologies named ‘material preparation’ ‘preparation avoidance’ ‘minimal preparation’ ‘balanced preparation’ were drawn. Second, factors affecting the possibility of belonging to a certain death preparation group were education, age, sex, income, religion. life satisfaction, social support and social facility usage.
Especially, religion and social support were found to have negative impact on death preparation, which is contrary to previous findings. Death being an elephant in the room in Korean culture, it might be considered that seniors who are more dependent on intimate relationship might have less opportunity to face the topic of death compared to those who experience more public and open resources of information and opportunity via social facilities.
