The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of the short narrations written in the late Ly Dynasty of Vietnam. I have been focusing on the characteristics of Vietnamese Traditional Narrations and also have released some studies of the subject previously. This is a preliminary work on founding the genealogy of the classical short narrations of East Asia. This study focus on Gyeonmunnok(見聞錄) and Taepyeongganggi(太平廣記) which are representative collections of the period. These two collections are the results representing the people`s desire derived by the change of time mixed with unrealistic material. I categorized the stories by the following subjects : meeting with a calamity, having great luck, succeeding in life and maintaining fidelity, meeting an extraordinary disaster or strange miracles. It was possible to identify that the desires of this period were established by the strangely unrealistic materials of everyday life in the pieces. The characteristics of this period`s narrations are identified by this work and I assume that this could be a base for further investigations. Moreover, I could also identify the stories discussed in this study were particularly similar to Yadam of the late Joseon Dynasty. Amongst all the short narrations of East Asia, the short narrations of late Ly Dynasty and the Yadam literature of late Joseon Dynasty should be discussed together. This matter could arouse further discussions of Yadam literature in the late Joseon Dynasty.
