In this thesis I tried to define the essence of Yeats's aristocratic thoughts and values and to survey the aristocratism revealed in his poetry.
Born of a culturally oriented family, Yeats was deeply influenced by his ancestors and his acquaintances, especially Maud Gonne and Lady Gregory. His belief in aristocratism was elevated by his visits to Coole Park and his journey to Italy. At Coole Park, he found out what he had been always seeking, a way of life which was in order through custom and ceremony.
In his poetry he tried to seek a traditional and noble world, and a harmonious and perfect world denouncing democracy and the middle class. Because of the aristocratic way of life which he saw embodied at Coole Park, he thought that something like the Unity of Culture could be achieved.
In conclusion, he sought to create a self-coherent Unity of Culture, a sanctified epic world immune from the incursions of modernity and to realize the Aristocratic Vision through his poetry.
