『說文解字』의 天干·地支와 그 활용

국문 초록 (Abstract)

『설문해자』는 후한시대 인물인 허신이 편찬한 540자의 한자이며 중국의 가장 오래된 자전이다. 최초로 부수 배열법을 사용하였으며 중국의 고문자를 연구하는데 중요한 필독서이다.
본 논고에서도 『설문해자』에 수록된 천간·지지가 동양 학술에 어떻게 사용되고 있는지에 대하여 명리학, 풍수지리학, 관상학을 통하여 연구를 진행하였다.
먼저 『설문해자』는 동물이나 식물 및 사물을 형상화하여 만들어진 고문이다. ‘갑골문자’와 더불어 고문자인데 어느 한 시대의 역사성과 사회성이 들어 있으며 자형의 연구에 대단한 의미를 지닌다. 또한 동양 학술에 필요한 천간·지지를 자세히 설명하고 있으므로 천간·지지가 어떻게 만들어지고 어떻게 활용되는지에 대하여 고찰하였다.
본 논고의 구성 및 주요 내용을 살펴보면, 『설문해자』의 특징과 음양오행 사상의 체계와 천간·지지가 어떻게 동양 술수학에 사용되고 있는지에 대하여 조명하였다. 『설문해자』에 준하여 천간·지지의 자형이 의미하고 있는 내용을 세부적으로 논하였다. 천간·지지의 활용에 대하여 동양학 중 명리학, 풍수지리학, 관상학에 비유하여 예를 들어 자세히 논하였고 결론에서는 전술한 내용을 종합해서 『설문해자』를 통하여 천간·지지가 가지고 있는 의미에 대하여 재조명의 필요성에 관하여 논하였다.
『설문해자』에서는 천간·지지와 함께 음양오행설도 수록하고 있으므로 본 논고에서 함께 고찰하였다. 본 논고가 동양 학술에 활용되고 있는 천간·지지에 대하여 그 근본을 논하였으므로 천간지지에 함의 되어 있는 내용은 활용되리라 본다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The Shuowenjiezi is about a 540-character Chinese character compiled by Xushen (許愼), a person of the late Han Dynasty, and is China's character dictionary. It was the first to use the arrangement method according to the primal character and is an important must-read for the study of Chinese ancient characters.
This paper conducted a study on how the ‘heaven fundamentals (天干)’ and the ‘earth supports (地支)’ included in the Shuowenjiezi are used in Oriental studies through fortune telling (命理), fengshui (geomancy) and physiognomy.
First, the Shuowenjiezi is about the ancient characters created by shaping animals, plants, and objects. Those ancient characters along with the ‘shell-and-bone characters (甲骨文子)’ contained the history and sociality of an era and carries great significance in the study of the figures. Also, because the book explained in detail the heaven fundamentals and the earth supports needed for Oriental studies, this paper examines how they were created and utilized.
Looking at the composition and main contents of this paper, it first elucidates the characteristics of the Shuowenjiezi and the system of Yin-Yang and the philosophy of the Five Elements, and how the heaven fundamentals and the earth supports are used in the Oriental fortune-telling study. The meanings of the character shapes of the heaven fundamentals and the earth supports were discussed in detail in accordance with the Shuowenjiezi. For example, we discussed the use of the heaven fundamentals and the earth supports compared with fortune telling, fengshui and physiognomy among Oriental studies. The conclusion discusses the need to re-examine the meaning of the heaven fundamentals and the earth supports through the Shuowenjiezi.
Now that the Shuowenjiezi contains the theory of Yin-Yang and the Five Elements along with the heaven fundamentals and the earth supports, this paper investigates them together. The meanings contained in the heaven fundamentals and the earth supports are expected to be used because this paper studied the roots of the heaven fundamentals and the earth supports being used in oriental studies.
