Since there were great demands on the applications and utilization of condenser microphone, many researches has been conducted for enhancing the performance of condenser microphones. Therefore, the dynamic characteristics of a vibrating circular diaphragm was studied according to the sound pressure and the ratio of capacitances as a function of the gap between diaphragm and backplate in order to enhance the mechanical sensitivity of a condenser microphone. The capacitance of a clamped-edge circular diaphragm has been more increased than that of a simplely supported circular diaphragm in case of the same diaphragm size and the gap distance. The reason is thought that the deflection angle of diaphragm is greatly related to the capacitance variation.
Also, the natural frequency of a clamped-edge circular diaphragm showed the higher value than that of a simplely supported circular diaphragm. So, a clamped-edge circular diaphragm is more desirable to increase mechanical sensitivity of a condenser microphone.
